Biography of Kaoru Fukuda

 

Pianist Kaoru Fukuda made her New York debut

as in 2009 with the Centre Symphony Orchestra at the invitation of Maestro Jose Alejandro Guzman, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor.

 

She was subsequently invited by conductor Scott Jackson Wiley to perform Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto with both the South Shore Symphony of Rockville Centre, New York and the Regina Opera Orchestra of Brooklyn.

These performances not only capped over a decade of activity as a performer and teacher in New York City, but marked the beginning of an ongoing collaboration with the Centre Symphony:

In 2013 she performed Beethoven's First Piano Concerto with the orchestra, again at the invitation of Maestro Guzman, and she looks forward to her performance of Chopin's Second Piano Concerto this coming March 2015.

Born in Yokohama, Kaoru Fukuda began her piano training at the age of four.

She was accepted into the piano studio of Michiko Okamoto at the prestigious Toho Gakuen School of Music, where she earned her high school diploma and Bachelor's Degree.

After her graduation, she moved to New York City and was awarded a Master’s Degree from New York University, studying under Martin Canin of the Juilliard School.
Later she worked with the noted piano pedagogue, Tamara Poddubnaya.

 

After teaching for some years at New York University, she joined the faculty at the Long Island Conservatory of Music and accepted a position as pianist at the Regina Opera Company.

As an official accompanist at LISMA International Competition for many years, she was named Best Accompanist in 2009.

Since relocating to her native Japan in 2012, she founded the Zarephath Piano Trio and began her own private piano studio: Piano Studio Giacometti.

She also teaches at Miyaji Music Joy at Ildabashi in Tokyo.
